Issue:

You are unable to open a new Tab/Window or nothing happens when you open a new Tab/Window after updating to Internet Explorer 8

when right clicking and choosing open in new tab window or when clicking on a hyperlink.

 

Resolution:

Re registering the actxprxy.dll  file seems to fix this issue, the reasons for why this fix works are not clear.

 

Follow the Instructions below to re register the actxprxy.dll :

Click on Start —> Run and type cmd and hit enter.

In the command Prompt window type Regsvr32 actxprxy.dll  and hit enter

If you can ping the remote machine and have administrative rights on that machine, you can use the windows remote shutdown utility to restart or shutdown a remote computer .

1. Go to Start - Run and type shutdown -i (A remote Shutdown Dialog Box will appear)
